Relativity

August 30th, 2005 @ 3:45 pm · Posted by Jonathan

Time is relative, but in other ways than the way Einstein necessarily meant. For instance, I met with my Monday night group on Sunday this week, my Tuesday night group on Monday, and now today (Tuesday) has felt like Wednesday all day long. To top it all off, I will probably call my parents tonight and, since I normally talk to them on Sunday, that means tomorrow will feel like Monday all over again.

All you wanted to know and more about naked mole-rats

Here is a link I got off of one of my biology sites. I actually thought the article was interesting. Before reading the article, I really didn’t know anything about naked mole-rats. Now, I know more than I probably wanted to :)

Enjoy kids :P

The Naked Truth About Mole-Rats

Oh, and for those of you who are truly crazy about naked mole-rats, here is a link you might also enjoy. I have to be honest, I’ve not checked this one out yet…but I’ve been very tempted…

Naked Mole-Rat Cam

Okay, so now I’ve checked it out. It’s kind of confusing. The link will take you to a page about cheetahs. So, just scroll further down the page and you should see the naked mole-rat cam. Thus far, it’s been kind of entertaining…..only a true biologist could say that of naked mole-rats ;)

BTW folks, the naked mole-rats are very active this morning. I’m not sure if they will decrease their activity as the day goes on. Better watch now while their really moving :P

Ashley is…

I did the google thing Rick and Jeff did.

Directions: Type “(your name) is” , (with the quotes) into a Google search, cut-and-paste the first 10 responses that work. Just pull the answers right out of the excerpt google shows you, don’t click the link and search around. The only rule is that each one has to start with “(your name) is”.

Here are my results.

1. Ashley is free to use this information for any purpose it deems appropriate,
including, but not limited to, marketing purposes.
2. Ashley is located in far northeastern Indiana on the borders of Steuben.
3. Ashley is the sweetest little girl, with always a happy bounce to her walk.
4. Ashley is the first student to be kicked out of Fame Academy. (Oops :P)
5. Ashley is a borough located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
6. Ashley is a town located on the border of DeKalb County, Indiana.
7. Ashley is furious that she’s been kept in the dark for so long. (Anything I should know guys?)
8. Ashley is played by Janelle Corlass Brown. (Who??)
9. Ashley is spending July and part of August, filming BUG…a new thriller. (Don’t worry, I won’t foget my friends when I’m famous ;))
10. Ashley is a wonderful little girl. (I know ;))

By the way, #3 is referring to a puppymill rescue site (yeah for that :)) and #10 is referring to the Make a Child smile site…she has spina bifida, how sad :(

The rest are quite interesting…who knew that I was such a popular town name… :D

The Mournful Cry

August 11th, 2005 @ 9:38 am · Posted by Jonathan

Deep in the night, a mournful cry is lifted to the heavens. Is it a lonesome coyote, searching for a mate? Or perhaps a solitary wolf, finding the scent of a quickly fleeing rabbit and gearing up for a mighty chase? Or could it be a majestic hound detecting a fox nearby and alerting everyone that the hunt has begun? Who can know what goes on in the mind of a slumbering pup to cause him to lift his mournful cry in the wee hours of the morning…

This is funny stuff, folks!

Here is a fun article. If you scroll down to where he’s talking about mods to video games he’d like to see, it gets pretty funny. You have to at least read the one on the beach volleyball game…it’s hilarious. Let’s just say there is a back hair removal option in his mod :D

Enjoy :P

Just plain weird….

For those of you reading this, you may want to sit down, you’re in for a bumpy ride…destination…my mind…

I had the strangest dream this morning. Apparently I have been watching and reading way too much stuff on the shuttle mission. I dreamed that Jon and I were on a type of shuttle going into space. What was really weird is that we were not a part of the main crew. We were extras I guess you could say. We didn’t even get to ride on the big shuttle. Instead, we were taken to a secret launch point and ushered into what looked nothing like a shuttle. It was almost an elongated escape pod that you see in the movies. As the tech- guys were explaining to us, you really didn’t need such a big shuttle. You didn’t even really need the boosters that are on the real shuttle. We just headed down a runway at really high speeds. Apparently, the big shuttle was just a show put on for the media and civilians. We were about to question all this when President Reagan showed up (as if things weren’t weird enough already ;) ) Anyway, the dream continued…we eventually got strapped in and all and got ready for take-off. Of course, I was nervous because I don’t even fly in airplanes well. It was then that I remembered we didn’t bring my medication with me (because they’d really let someone on regular medication up into space). I also realized we forgot the digital camera. I was so upset that I went and found Jon, who was sitting in the back. I told him what we forgot and he just looked at me like I’d grown another head (BTW, it’s not nice to look at your wife that way Jon ;) ). About that time we were to take off and some lady came and made me get back into my seat…a stewardess if you will. And that my friends, is as far as I got. We did make it into space safely, but then the alarm clock went off and I was no longer in space, I was kind of sad actually.

And there you have it.

A penny for your thoughts…
