Days of Painting, part one

December 31st, 2005 @ 7:41 pm · Posted by Jonathan

Yesterday, Ashley and I went out and purchased paint for our room. I then spent the rest of the day prepping — moving everything to the center of the room, thoroughly cleaning and dusting, and finally removing a bad section of baseboard that has needed replacing for a while. Today, I started painting. By the end of the afternoon — and slightly over a gallon of paint — I had completed all of the roller work. Now, I am ready to do brush work in the morning. I still need to go to Lowe’s tomorrow to pick up some crown moulding and possibly another section of baseboard (I need to remeasure what I have to make sure that it will fit). I also have to pick up the trim paint as well. However, for the rest of the night, I think I will crash.

Slowly, but surely

I am gradually working on a new theme for the site. However, it is going slow and I keep adding things that are missing from the current theme. For instance, since I switched to this new theme, the author names have been missing. That should be fixed now.

Planning Day

December 29th, 2005 @ 10:01 pm · Posted by Jonathan

Today was a planning day. Since the walls are plain white, I have been itching to redo our Master Bedroom for quite some time now. So, Ashley and I spent all afternoon planning the renovations. We have picked a color, decided on putting up crown moulding, bought a new bedspread, and are now recouperating so that we can begin prep work tomorrow. We also plan on laying down laminate wood flooring in the bedroom — just not yet. I do not know that I would have it in me to get it all finished by the time I have to go back to work on Tuesday and I have a few other projects I would like to get a start on as well (cleaning up and organizing the garage — a big enough project that it will probably take a few weekends itself, but I want to get a start on it).

I plan on taking pictures as things progress and will hopefully get them posted.

Ladies, we are not alone!

Cool New Vents…

Woot! This is way cool!

Scientists discover new hydrothermal vents

For those of you who are wondering why I think this is so cool, I did my masters thesis research on bacteria living in hydrothermal vents. I’ve touched the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean…indirectly of course, the dirt came to me :D

Appalling, simply appalling

Battle over child’s right to die

How horribly, horribly tragic. It saddens me that there are people in this world who would beat their children in the first place, but to beat them into a comatose, vegetative state and then ask for the state to not take the child off of life support….how dare he! Of course, he’s not motivated by the fact that if she dies, he faces a muder charge….yeah right! Yes he’s motivated by that! How truly disgusting.

I don’t even have a category that this will fit into. And I don’t particularly want to create one either.

What kind of a world do we live in?

How appropriate

December 5th, 2005 @ 9:05 pm · Posted by Jonathan

While killing time on the site, I decided to create a parent category for the two dog categories, Snobbers and The Gutless Wonder. My choice was Canine Commandos. While checking the spelling, I realized just how appropriate my choice of commandos was: A small fighting force specially trained for making quick destructive raids against enemy-held areas. Some days that description seems to fit our dogs exactly.
