When I woke up this morning…

April 26th, 2006 @ 9:48 am · Posted by Ashley

it was thundering. I knew we were in trouble. She didn’t even come to get me out of bed, I had to get up all on my own. Shortly thereafter, the puppy attachment was in place.

Benadryl was adminstered via peanut butter. It went a lot easier than normal. Either she’s not fighting as much, or I’m getting better at this. We’ve had to drug her way too much if it’s getting easier to do.

In the background (Dante): PEANUT BUTTER!!!!!! I want some peanut butter, Mommy! Gimme peanut butter! Can’t she see me here? My tail is gonna fall off if she doesn’t give me some peanut butter soon. OOOh, look, the spoon covered in peanut butter goodness is coming my way. Oooohhhh, yummy. I love peanut butter!!!

This is my life :) Sometimes I don’t know whether to laugh or cry ;)

Smoofish strikes again!

Smoofish phrase for the day:

Marble Cream Slabbery

Better known as the Marble Slab Creamery to those of you who do not speak Smoofish.

The reply to this phrase given by my husband:
“That’s okay. I knew what you meant. I do smeak Spoofish.” I’ve trained him well, his Smoofish is coming along quite nicely :)

Also, a great sandwich shop has moved into the Target plaza, it’s called Fireball Subs, as opposed to Firehouse Subs.

Hurray for Research!

Looks like things may be looking up for diabetics everywhere. Hopefully I can avoid having to have something like this for a long time. Here’s to medical research on diabetes :D

Devices may aid diabetics’ constant monitoring

Pitiful. Just pitiful.

With the weather so nasty yesterday, Rosie decided that she wanted to go to work with Ashley and I. Of course, we could not take the pups along. When we got back home, it was still raining so the dogs were cooped up in the house all day long. Today, I thought that it would be a good idea to take them out for a walk since it has been so nice out. Around 2:30pm, Ashley and I loaded up the dogs into her car and took them down to the greenway so that we could have a nice little walk someplace new, instead of just around the neighborhood.

We only managed to make it a little over half a mile before Rosie and Dante started to wear out. “Ok,” we told the dogs, “we will head back to the car and take you home.” Since it was such a nice day, bikers, walkers, and rollerbladers were out in full force so we had to stop every few minutes and keep the dogs at bay so that they could get by. On the way back, we still had to stop every few minutes to let people by, but the pups took that opportunity to lie down in the grass, panting the whole time. When we finally made it back to the house, the dogs crashed for a couple of hours on the tile. I think we are going to have to walk more around the neighborhood to get the dogs back into shape so that we can take these longer walks in the future.

Okay, I think I have fulfilled my link-posting quota for the month! Sorry I got it all in at once :)

Let’s Celebrate!

Okay, today it looks like I’m just pasting links, but this one is totally worth it! I am trying to help celebrate 50,000 hits on the DSN (Deep-Sea News) site. I love this site for all of its nerdiness. So, if the ocean interests you in any way, even just a tiny bit, check out this site. It’s filled with lots of interesting facts and general information, especially the posts on 25 Things You Should Know About the Deep Sea, as well as some really cool pictures.

Did I mention I was a deep sea nerd ;)

Anyway, go and check it out and bring up the hit count!

Go DSN :)

Ok, I know that I have fallen off the writing bandwagon lately, but saving the world is tough work. I have been super busy at work lately and I have either watched movies, read, or played my GameCube every night after work for the past few weeks. That has not left a lot of time for writing. Saturday was the best day for playing video games. Our yard was sopping wet from the storms on Friday night, so there was not really any yard work that I could do. I got up about 6:45, played on the computer until Ashley got up at 8:30, and then started playing Ocarina of Time. I decided to stop playing somewhere around 2:30 or so. Instead of doing anything productive, I convinced Ashley to watch Return of the King with me (not that it took a lot of convincing). That consumed the rest of the day (the extended version is around four hours) with a slight break for dinner around 5:30.

However, today I have been productive cleaning and getting the printer working (again) on the file server. I did pick up some new hardware for my home file server, a new 200 gig harddrive from the OfficeMax that is closing in town. I picked it up for less than 50 cents per gig, so I felt like I got a pretty good deal on it. This will take me one step closer to ripping all of my CDs so that I have my entire music collection available to my new stereo downstairs without having to swap discs out all of the time. Plus, I have started carrying music to work (and forgetting to bring it home), so having my backup copy on the server will still let me listen to it when I leave the disc at work.

In Loving Memory

I stand corrected, it looks like Boo may have been 16 years old. Wow! That is ancient in dog years. I was looking for a picture of him to put on the site when I found one with a date, 1990. I can’t believe how long he has been with my family. It’s almost like having another sibling. Well, here are some pictures of Boo doing some of his favorite things.

Enjoy :)
