Pregnancy-Induced Nostalgia?
Well, it’s been a while since my last post. Not much is going on. I have a doctor’s appointment next week so I’ll post more about Emily then. As for today, I thought I’d just write about what was on my mind at the moment I sat down in front of the computer.
So here it is, my thought for the day. It’s totally going to blow your minds. Are you ready?
Apples and peanut butter are yummy together!
If I’m not mistaking, this was a favorite childhood snack of mine. I rediscovered it only yesterday and now I can’t get enough! It all started in a meeting yesteray. One of my coworkers brought an apple and ate it during the meeting. All I could think about was how yummy that apple would be dipped in peanut butter. I was ready for that meeting to be over so I could get some. Once I satisfied that craving, Emily and I were much happier. Today has been the same way. I have been consumed with the thought of apples and peanut butter since I arrived at work. I couldn’t even wait until this afternoon to have it. I had to have some for lunch.
I’ve gotten a few odd looks here at the office, but I figure people just think it’s because I’m pregnant. But is it really that? Does anyone else out there eat peanut butter on their apples? Rachel, my peanut butter junkie, help me out here. Surely you have discovered this delicious snack
Despite what people say or think, I’m going to continue to eat my apples with peanut butter in bliss. As far as pregnancy cravings go, this and ice cream (but never together at the same time) are the only ones I’ve had. But I’m not sure that I would call this a pregnancy-induced craving. It’s more like rediscovering a pleasant taste from childhood, complete with fond memories. A remembrance of simpler times…
That’s my nostalgic experience for today. What’s yours?

I’ve had peanut butter and apples before, so I didn’t think you were weird.

I don’t think there’s anything strange about it at all. I’ve eaten apples with peanut butter many times. Tastes great! I also love smearing peanut butter on bananas.

Peanut butter and bananas, that’s the way to go! One of the schools that I used to teach in served a banana spear spread with peanut butter, rolled in oats and nuts , and drizzled with chocolate as dessert on some occassions! Yummy!! However, I have eaten apples with peanut butter and it is o.k.

I have long loved pb with most any fruit. But I could live off of bread and pb.

It’s good to know that I’m not weird or anything. Of course, Jonathan and I decided that the ‘must have it everyday’ attitude is probably technically a true craving. As long as I’ve got peanut butter and apples, I’m okay with that

Do you remember coring the apple and stuffing the hole with peanut butter? That’s what I remember more than just putting the peanut butter on the apple slices. That and our “bumps on a log”!!

Yeah, I remember that, especially the ‘bumps on a log’ bit. We just didn’t have any raisins here at work to add. Perhaps I’ll have to look into getting some though. That kind of sounds yummy too
Ahhh, what great childhood memories…

Yes, we had peanut butter and apples…and bananas…and on bread strips with raisins for “bumps on a log”…and on pinecones for the birds. I still eat apples with peanut butter as a dip. Had it just last week. It is a favorite of mine.

I agree with Geof. PB is wonderful with any fruit or just by itself. Its good for you to have a little boost of protein with all of that sugar. When I was pregnant, I would eat banana and PB sanwiches and Tim thought I was crazy but I decided he’s the crazy one! Also, I have discovered that they make “butter” from other nuts. Almond butter is my new fave!
