Well, another week with Emily brings more pictures, this time with hair and eyeballs!. There are times that I think we are getting this and then we have nights like the last two nights that just make you want to pull your hair out. Mom will be glad to hear that I apparently have a kid just like me: she just decides that she does not want to sleep. Last night I gave up and called Ashley after four hours of rocking, burping, walking, and screaming (all her), two bottles, six or seven diapers, and a grand total of ten minutes sleep over a course of six hours. Of course, Ashley walked her for 30 minutes and then Emily crashed for almost eight hours. So, that was kind of rough. Hopefully we will be able to get her into some kind of a better routine in the next couple of weeks, especially with me going back to work on Monday.
For those of you that are wanting full-sized copies of pictures that we are posting, you can do the following:
- Look at the individual photo on the site, where the photo is on a page by itself.
- There is a link below the pictures that says “See this photo on Flickr”. Click on that link.
- You should now be on the Flickr page for that photo.
- Above the photo, there is a button that says “All Sizes”. Click that button.
- You should now be on a page that lets you pick different sizes of pictures. Choose the one you want and click the download link to grab a copy of the picture.
Alternatively, you can grab pictures directly from my Flickr account. However, all pictures on my Flickr account are mirrored through this site, so there is not really any need.

Aww, isn’t she a cutie
. And that looked like a smile to me and at only 2 weeks! I’m sure the directions were for me, the uninformed aunt. Thanks, Jon. Hope you all get some sleep some. Love to all.
Thanks for the pictures of her sweet, smiling face! And yes she is smiling at only two weeks! I know the nights can get long when nothing seems to settle babies down but how did she go for an eight hour stretch? Reminds me a lot of you as an infant but we never got long stretches whether it was day or night.:-)
Thanks for the directions. See you tomorrow afternoon. Love, CeCe
Precious, just precious! She definitely was smiling!!!!!
Hang in there, the first few weeks are really tough. Babies have their own agenda, oops– I mean schedule, and unfortunately it usually doesn’t match mom and dad’s. She’ll settle down and get into a routine–just remember that this world is brand new to her, not like her nice snug womb, and she’s got to get adjusted to it. The key to surviving these first few months–any time she naps, you nap, no matter what time of the day it is. You may not get long periods of sleep, but any sleep is better than no sleep at all!! It will get better!! Right now you may not think it ever will, but I promise it will!!!
Can’t wait to meet my great niece! Love to all of you!
Yay pictures!
I’m sorry you guys are having such a rough time with her sleeping. I hope she’ll get on a more even keel soon.
