Experiments in Life

Despite my best efforts, the bedroom remodelling is still going on. Here is the breakdown of the tasks:

1. Paint the walls in the room
2. Prime the trim and doors
3. Paint the trim and the doors
4. Install plugs, switches, and faceplates to match the trim
5. Install crown moulding
6. Caulk around the moulding and set the moulding brads
7. Touch up trim and wall paint as needed
8. Install new curtain rods and curtains
9. Put room back together

I am finally in the home stretch now. My goal is finish with the caulking and painting by the end of Saturday night. That way, I can finish up Sunday morning with the curtains and moving the furniture back in place and, after three and a half weeks, we can finally move back into our bedroom.

Yesterday, Ashley and I went out and purchased paint for our room. I then spent the rest of the day prepping — moving everything to the center of the room, thoroughly cleaning and dusting, and finally removing a bad section of baseboard that has needed replacing for a while. Today, I started painting. By the end of the afternoon — and slightly over a gallon of paint — I had completed all of the roller work. Now, I am ready to do brush work in the morning. I still need to go to Lowe’s tomorrow to pick up some crown moulding and possibly another section of baseboard (I need to remeasure what I have to make sure that it will fit). I also have to pick up the trim paint as well. However, for the rest of the night, I think I will crash.

Today was a planning day. Since the walls are plain white, I have been itching to redo our Master Bedroom for quite some time now. So, Ashley and I spent all afternoon planning the renovations. We have picked a color, decided on putting up crown moulding, bought a new bedspread, and are now recouperating so that we can begin prep work tomorrow. We also plan on laying down laminate wood flooring in the bedroom — just not yet. I do not know that I would have it in me to get it all finished by the time I have to go back to work on Tuesday and I have a few other projects I would like to get a start on as well (cleaning up and organizing the garage — a big enough project that it will probably take a few weekends itself, but I want to get a start on it).
