I found this little blurb quite interesting. Of course, this link goes to a personal favorite biology blog. I link to it a lot, so if you haven’t already, you may just want to check the blog out for yourself and set up an automatic feed like I have. Anyway, enjoy :D

This is truly turning out to be squid week or something. Anyway, thought this article was interesting too. They caught one of the giant squids on camera. That’s a nice change from a dead one washed up on the beach. Check it out, it at least has a cool picture :D

Here is another article describing the same thing, only it has a couple of more pictures and a video you can watch. It’s pretty cool. Go check it out :)

Plague-infected lab mice missing in New Jersey

“…the rodents may have been stolen, eaten by other lab animals or just misplaced in a paperwork error…” (from the Associated Press article linked to above)

Richard Ebright, a Rutgers University microbiologist had this to say, “You have more security at a McDonald’s than at some of these facilities…”

Somehow, that just doesn’t make me feel any better about the incident.

This was just too good! So good in fact that I felt like I needed to post about it. It will definitely give you something to think about.

Female bats share mates with their moms

BTW, who comes up with these crazy research ideas and how on earth do they get funding for it? I’d like to study bat family trees and get paid for it. Where do I sign up ;) Any other takers :D

Relativity

Time is relative, but in other ways than the way Einstein necessarily meant. For instance, I met with my Monday night group on Sunday this week, my Tuesday night group on Monday, and now today (Tuesday) has felt like Wednesday all day long. To top it all off, I will probably call my parents tonight and, since I normally talk to them on Sunday, that means tomorrow will feel like Monday all over again.

All you wanted to know and more about naked mole-rats

Here is a link I got off of one of my biology sites. I actually thought the article was interesting. Before reading the article, I really didn’t know anything about naked mole-rats. Now, I know more than I probably wanted to :)

Enjoy kids :P

The Naked Truth About Mole-Rats

Oh, and for those of you who are truly crazy about naked mole-rats, here is a link you might also enjoy. I have to be honest, I’ve not checked this one out yet…but I’ve been very tempted…

Naked Mole-Rat Cam

Okay, so now I’ve checked it out. It’s kind of confusing. The link will take you to a page about cheetahs. So, just scroll further down the page and you should see the naked mole-rat cam. Thus far, it’s been kind of entertaining…..only a true biologist could say that of naked mole-rats ;)

BTW folks, the naked mole-rats are very active this morning. I’m not sure if they will decrease their activity as the day goes on. Better watch now while their really moving :P
